This compact reference guide delivers what its cover advertises. Its extremely easy to use. Unlike the concise Larousse, each word is delineated by a background highlight of yellow, the actual words and definitions are printed in easy-on-the-eyes blue. Important phrases are underlined in the same distinguishable yellow—all make for easy reading and easy look-up. Interspersed throughout the regular dictionary format are informative 500 full color illustrations grouped by topic. (Example: a page is devoted to different fruits, another to family members, and another to body parts.

By no means as comprehensive as the standard Larousse, this edition is perfect for the beginning to intermediate student, but there will definitely be times when another dictionary reference will be necessary. I like this book for class, its easy format makes word look-up a breeze.

This book is very good, it has color, the words are in blue and they look they are highlighted in yellow. It shows the pronounciation very clearly, and the best thing is that it has the definition, gender plus a phrase so the use will know how to use the word.
It also has a picture section with the animals, kids and feelings, body parts, family tree, fruits and vegetables and other stuff.
Although my version says “student” not “school” as the picture shows.
Also, it has small exerts of information about a particular word, usually a place or person.
In general is a great little handy book, highly recommend to french students of any age.

The LaRousse Student dictionary is the best one on the market. It translates French to English and vice versa. It has example sentences with each word and numerous phrases and expressions. It also includes several colored pages of vocabulary such as: animals, maps, food, etc. It is a great dictionary for students from middle school to college.
